Volunteer with us
People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give soomething back to the community or make a difference to the lives of people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.
Since its early days Vision 21 has always encouraged and supported volunteers into the organisation and we are proud to hold the Investing in Volunteers quality mark – the UK’s standard for good practice in volunteer management.
Whatever your goal we work hard to help you achieve it. You’ll get a fantastic opportunity to meet people and make new friends whilst being a part of an inclusive and supportive organisation.
Volunteering with Vision 21 offers a number of benefits:
- A full induction to Vision 21, staff, students, project tour and an introduction to our policies and procedures
- A chance to learn new skills and participate in something you enjoy
- An opportunity to put your existing skills to good use
- Payment of your out of pocket expenses – travel and meals
- Being a part of an ever growing, exciting organisation, working with people who really care.
- Enhance your CV and obtain references.
WHAT CAN I DO AS A VOLUNTEER?
Whether you are looking to be involved in the ‘hands on’ vocational activity of the project, or more interested in supporting our students, volunteer roles can be adapted to suit you and your aspirations. There are opportunities to suit everyone!
We also offer volunteer opportunities in other areas such as administration, marketing, fundraising and even caretaking.
BECOMING A VOLUNTEER
If you are over 16 and have plenty of enthusiasm, energy and a willingness to help people with a learning need, then we would love to hear from you! Take a look at our projects and think about which you would most like to help with.
There is no minimum commitment, you can volunteer for as many or as few hours as you wish – arrangements can be made to fit around you. Don’t worry if you don’t have any prior experience – full training and guidance will be given.
Due to the nature of our work, we require all volunteers to provide two character referees and undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check*.
If you would like to apply to volunteer or would like more information please contact Jamie Harris the Volunteering and Placements Co-ordinator.
*DBS checks for volunteers are free so there will be no cost to you or the organisation
