Bespoke Woodwork was the first Vision 21 project and it has grown from strength to strength from its humble early days in a domestic garage in Gabalfa.
The project is located in a large, well equipped, workshop in our industrial unit in Heath where it produces a wide range of handmade and assembled wooden products for the home and garden.
Trainees are actively involved in the production process, and the current range of products enable trainees to gain foundation skills and development opportunities in learning about furniture assembly and basic joinery skills.
Trainees attend Fieldway Woodwork from 9am-3pm
Trainees at Bespoke Woodwork learn the basics of carpentry and joinery skills at levels to suit all abilities. Through making and assembling a variety of products, they are taught how to use and care for a range of hand and power tools with a strong emphasis on learning correct health and safety procedures, as well as a range of ways to apply different finishes to wood.
A person-centered training plan is developed for each trainee, which includes skills such as:

The project has built up links with a number of local businesses to source reclaimed timber. It strives to work ethically and to use reclaimed and second use timber wherever it is available. They also focus on using water-based wood stains and finishes where appropriate, although they will also use preservatives for outdoor products if and when required.
Bespoke Woodwork products are sold directly to the public, they are also on sale at Vision Made and the Oaks Garden Nursery.
