Interested in gaining experience in an office?

Our Office Skills project is located within our Head Office at Fieldway.  Trainees will work in a busy environment supporting the organisation with different admin responsibilities.  Working in a real work setting supported by a lead member of staff the trainee’s are able to gain valuable experience for tools needed to work in an office.

Why an office?

Training in a real office can be a valuable experience to the individual as they are able to work toward qualifications and goals that could help them move into volunteering opportunities or paid work.

It can also be beneficial to those who aren’t able to work giving them a real sense of purpose and achievement to their lives, being a part of the important day to day tasks of a busy workplace.


Trainees attend the Office Skills project from 9am -3pm

A person-centred training plan is developed for each trainee, which includes skills such as:

  • Internet and safety online
  • Answering the phone
  • Communication Skills internal and external
  • Greeting Customers
  • Organisational Skills
  • Personal Presentation
  • Using Microsoft Outlook Calendar
  • Using Microsoft Office
  • Ordering and stocktaking
  • Retail and counting money
  • Using office equipment
  • Creating a simple database
  • Keeping records up to date
  • Shredding
  • Writing Skills
  • Numeracy skills
  • Literacy skills

Progression and credit-based learning

Students can progress through the different credit levels starting at pre-entry, progressing through Entry levels 1, 2, 3 and Level 1.

All modules have essential numeracy and literacy skills integrated throughout the courses which are introduced in enjoyable and accessible ways.

Before starting a course, a taster day will be offered to see if it suits the trainee’s needs.

Future Opportunities

Office Skills supports ‘work ready’ students to move on from Vision 21 into volunteering roles within the community and or paid employment.
