V21 Crafts @ Barry

At our V21 Crafts @ Barry project, trainees get stuck into creative, sustainable crafts, transforming recycled and unwanted materials into fun and exciting items. They make recycled handmade paper, seed bombs, scrap-wool signage, inner-tube earrings, and paper-mâché animals and figures, all while learning new skills and trying out their own ideas. The opportunities are endless!
With Emma or Mary leading the project for the day, they help trainees build their skills and get involved in a relaxed, friendly space. The project is based in the community centre in Barry, right next to our Woodwork project, so there’s more friendships to be made at break times.

Training is shaped around each trainee’s strengths, helping them learn skills such as:
- Painting techniques.
- Knitting using hand-cranked mills.
- Paper-making.
- Exploring design ideas.
- Packaging items for sale.
- Wire sculpting.
- Drawing and painting.
- Jewellery-making
- Sewing and textiles.
- Various crafts.
