V21 Gardening @ Fairwater

Would you like to take care of a community garden?
Our V21 Community Garden runs the full length of the V21 Sbectrwm Centre, is wheelchair accessible and is perfect for those who enjoy working outdoors.
As a trainee attending V21 Gardening @ Fairwater you will be involved in the day-to-day running of a community garden. You’ll learn how to grow and nurture plants from seeds and saplings, receive training in the use of tools for garden maintenance and be gain customer service skills, selling plants to the public.

Together, we will develop a training plan to suit you and you could learn skills such as:
- Growing vegetables and plants.
- Identifying common weeds, beneficial insects and pests.
- Maintaining and using garden tools.
- Customer Service.
- Making up planters & hanging baskets for sale.
- Planting, hoeing, weeding, watering and tending plants.
- Preparing ground and beds for seed/plant sowing.
- Using petrol powered equipment.
- Using sustainable growing principles.
- Creating woodcraft items.
As a trainee attending the V21 Gardening @ Fairwater project, you will also be involved in carrying out garden maintenance and contract work for a number of local parks and community centres. This means you will go out into the community, with a team, to help maintain public benches and similar from time to time.
When?
Trainees attend V21 Gardening @ Fairwater Monday to Friday from 9:00am – 3:00pm.
